What are curtain bangs?

As we all know this face framing style first became popular in the 1970s. Imagine a longer fringe parted down the middle, framing both sides of the face - voilà, you have the curtain bang! The curtain bang style gives an effortless, sweet, younger look.

We’ve found that curtain bangs look great on everyone! Whether your hair is bouncy and curly, or sleek and straight you can both achieve the look! 

How to style curtain bangs

Curtain bangs are extremely low maintenance, however do need a little bit of styling if you want to keep them looking tame, but if you want the messy look feel free to let them air dry and fall into place. 

To give your bangs that bounce and volume you see on celebrities, make sure to first wash your hair with a nourishing shampoo and conditioner. Consider a few sprays of leave-in conditioner then towel dry your hair until it’s just damp. For straight hair use a round brush to blow dry hair away from your face until dry. For curly hair it is best to let your bangs air dry to ensure each curl is defined.

Messy Ponytail: Many women prefer their hair to look all natural and messy. The messy ponytail gives off the ultimate laid back look. Simply let you bangs fall where they may and loosely grab your hair and tie it in the back loosely, preferably with a silk hair band for less breakage and will also keep the hair loose and effortless. We find this will look best when your hair is slightly curled to accentuate the messy look. 

Half Up and Half Down: Half up half down involves sleek straight and blowdried bangs. Next, take half of your hair and secure if with bobby pins at the crown of your head. This is a more sophisticated look sported on many celebs who attended red carpet events throughout the years. 

Bandana: If you are looking for an easy yet different hairstyle, a bandana solves everything! Do something a little different and secure your curly air dried hair into a top knot. Loosely pull the bun apart and pull out pieces to frame your face. Finally loosely tie a bandana securing it at the top. This look truly brings back the 70s in a fun and elegant way!
